Lily, the little rabbit, stretched her paws and peeked outside her burrow. The snow had melted, and the air smelled fresh and sweet. “Spring is coming!” she squeaked excitedly.
She hopped to the meadow, where Mr. Robin was fluffing his feathers. “Have you seen any flowers yet?” Lily asked.
Mr. Robin chirped, “Not yet, but the trees are waking up!”
Lily raced to the old oak tree, where buds were peeking from the branches. She twitched her nose and sniffed the air. Then, she spotted a tiny green stem pushing through the soil.
“The first bloom of spring!” she cheered. The other animals gathered around, watching as the little bud slowly opened into a bright yellow daffodil.
Spring had truly begun.
